Professional or Personal?

It was my day-off when it happened.

Jinky: Kailangan makuha ko na yung ticket ko ng Ferrari kay SonMar.
Me: Bakit kelan ba yun?
Junky: Ewan ko lang, pero basta dapat makuha ko na yun kasi ililipat na siya sa Dubai diba?
Me: *blank look*

The following day, he explained what had happened.

It was a memorandum form the HR department. He will be transferred to Mercato as soon as possible. Another technician will be sent to us in exchange for him. Funny thing was that our Operations Manager and the Technical department were not informed of the transfer. Bypassing?

Each staff has his own take on the subject, but no one seems to care too much. Just a few weeks ago, one of our staff was also transferred to Abu Dhabi, and it was a major issue. But everybody was silent with SonMar's transfer. Ummm...bullying?

SonMar is VERY far from being the staff's favorite person. He is arrogant, he flirts too much, he lies, he is this and that. But I have been observing everyone, and as far as I believe it to be, he is also the ONLY technician (there are four of them) in Jimi that everyone can count on. If there is a problem at work and he is having his day-off, don't they call him and ask him to work overtime? He is ALWAYS the first person they look for when they need technical assistance. No one will admit it, of course, but it's true.

So why is our unit manager in approval with the transfer? He will lose his best technician. He can always argue.

I had a long discussion with SonMar and it seems the reason is actually more on personal. And I had something to do with it.

So according to SonMar, from the HR's POV, it is to separate me from him. From what I understand, the rumour of us being together reached the HR department (big deal??) and they disapprove because SonMar is married and blah blah blah. In short, it is a sin. (They should honestly focus on other malls. I mean, in another outlet, unmarried couples live together!! Now THAT is something that is factual and not only based on gossips. And from UAE's standards, it is a GRAVE sin.)

And regarding our unit manager...I heard he likes me. Period.

I wasn't distressed that I was caught up in this mess because it seems too ridiculous to be actually true. But who knows? I told SonMar not to worry about me too much because he thinks I am also being preyed on. Maybe the main difference between SonMar and me is that he is easily readable, and I am not. As long as I keep silent and look apathetic, they won't get anything from me. Kaya nga hanggang ngayon e naglalaro lang sa isip nila kung kami ba o hindi. At yun din ang dahilan kaya si SonMar ang pinipilit nilang hulihin -- wala kasi silang makuha sa akin. Hindi rin nila ako ina-attempt na kausapin ng seryoshan tungkol dun. Kaya puro nalang sila haka-haka. Mga tsismoso at tsismosa. Hindi ka talaga pwede magtiwala ng basta basta.

He will transfer March 2nd. Few days to go. Against everyone's approval, I decided to give my free time to SonMar. I am thinking "tutal naman e paglalayuin nila kami, might as well asarin silang lahat." Give them something to talk about. Stir up the issue farther and slap them right in the face with new rumours and fresh back-fighting. I think SonMar is also thinking the same. Before, he would try to avoid me in the site so that the staff will not talk about us. But now, he is always around and would even go as far as visit me in my (glass-enclosed) area especially while the supervisors and the managers are watching. Sometimes, we think alike.
