I don't consider myself as 'pasaway' when it comes to work. Sure, I break a few rules like chewing bubblegum, listening to music in my area, eating/drinking coffee in my area, not tying my hair up, not tucking in my shirt, wearing jacket, and extending my break for another 5 minutes. But overall, I know I'm doing a great job in handling my area of responsibility.
And the first time I was called by my manager to his office was today, with regards to what I did — rather, what I failed to do — last 31st of December 2011.
Pasaway Checklist:
1) Absent from work. Check!
2) Did not inform supervisor beforehand. Check!
3) Did not answer phone calls from supervisor. Check!
Ahaha.
Two days loss of pay just to witness the ten-minute fireworks display in Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa.
What the heck.
So on a very busy Saturday, three staff were missing from work — the BPBCT. But you know who met up with us in Dubai Mall? Our very own supervisor who was calling me earlier on my mobile. She also ditched her work for the countdown. The Pasaway Checklist seemed to vanish into thin air as we laughed and ordered food from Chillis. At the same time, our manager was texting Pilay to meet up with him in the same mall — he's also not at work. Pasaway Checklist — forever gone. And finally, we accidentally met our Senior Technician and his family. All in all, eleven staff were not present at work, counting the four who were on vacation, and one who was on sick leave. Haha.
So today, manager told me that it's okay to have fun sometimes, and he even allows the staff to change shift or day-off if they wanted, so we should be responsible in return and inform the management if we cannot come to work so they can adjust the schedule of the other staff. I apologized, but since it was my first pasaway moment, he let it pass.
Overall, I was glad that my midnight celebration was an onslaught of boom! bang! wizz! weeeeee~pow! in a multitude of colors.
Welcome 2012!
