Given that I only have around six months left to discover the rest of what this country has to offer which is very budget friendly, I will list some of the things I wanna do and places I wanna see before I leave in early 2015.
1) Desert Safari
For the fourth qaurter team building to be held around November (if we manage to survive past the rumour of our outlet closing down in September), I will heavily suggest that we do a desert safari.
Bakeeet?
Haller, we are in UAE. Deserts. Camels. Quad Bikes. Dune Bashings. I understand that most Indian and Nepali nationals probably don't have that much experience in beaches and water parks, but going on a swimming spree for four consecutive team buildings is just too much. Beaches can be found anywhere in the world. Water parks, albeit the different theme-ing, offer the same range of activities which we have already tried more than a dozen times. We need to be in the sand. We need to try the local specialty. Grrrr, that killjoy of a manager.
2) Dubai Miracle Garden
Located more than two hours away from home, one bus ride, one expensive taxi drive, and a surprisingly cheap entry fee, I need to see this place even if I have to go alone!!
Bakeeet?
I'm not fond of flowers. I used to pick Santan flowers from my neighbor's yard, but that was so I can taste its sweet nectar and make necklaces. Other than that, flowers don't interest me much. But even so, it would be stupid to leave this place without having seen this majestic flower garden with a record of having the longest flower wall in the world.
3) Barracuda
Since I have a friend employed at this awesome liquor store, I wanted to try buying from there and traveling to Al Ain via public transpo and not get caught by the police.
Bakeeet?
Just for the thrill. And the price in that store is half of what they have here in Al Ain.
4) Wadi Adventure
I will also suggest this place for the third quarter team building to be held around September. I've been eyeing this place since last month and I was hoping we would go there during the second quarter but Dreamland won the vote and look at what happened. Tch.
Bakeeet?
It is not so cheap, but we can do unlimited zip line and air rope for less than 100 dirhams, plus it is only located here in Al Ain, although a little bit far from our district. Regardless, I think that we can have more fun here as a group compared to a water park (tch!). The guys can still swim in the pool if they wanted to be in the water that much, but at least we can still do more aside from getting wet and being selfishly busy with pool volleyball that lunch is forgotten till 3PM. Tch.
And that's it. There are other wonderful things to see and do here in UAE but well...budget.
Ferrari World? Not really. Entry is expensive and I won't take the extreme rides anyway (a world record for the fastest roller coaster made from steel). If someone manages to get me a half-discounted ticket, I might consider it. If not, then there's no need.
Yas Island Water Park? Wild Wadi Water Park? Discounted tickets please.
Dhow Cruise? I don't see dressing up and lounging that fun. The buffet dinner is tempting, but other than that...is there even vodka on board?
I was also planning to visit a high school classmate who resides in Ruwais, but after being briefed by how far that place is (around six hours by bus/bus/bus/taxi one-way travel, and I only have one day off), I decided to just put it at the back of my list. If I'm on local leave, then it is fine, but if only on a one day trip, it would be a nightmare going back and forth. So Natalie...sorry.
Would I miss this place once I leave it? Definitely yes. I had a lot of firsts here, and most of them are very memorable, especially being penalized by the police after being caught jaywalking on my way to a drinking session which is another crime by itself. Hehehe, The emirates and its laws.
