Early this month, I had submitted my resignation letter. Surprisingly, my boss took the news better than I had expected. This is a bad year for him – with me as the fifth regular employee who had resigned from work (with two more who are planning to do the same), plus the harassment issue that spread several months ago. I am a bit worried for him and really am wondering how he is holding up. But then, someone gave me the idea that us leaving the company is actually a good thing for him – personally. With the regular employees gone, the harassment issue will finally be closed. Our recent regulars came to the office after the news aroused, so they have little to no idea about the issue. It will give my boss a fresh start. I will not judge him if that’s what he’s really thinking as I do understand that this could be an opportunity for a new beginning. Only a few people know the truth of the incident, and I am not one of them. So I’ll just let him think what he likes.
But this really is a big problem for the company. December is closing in, and they have no Front Desk Supervisor. My boss would not consider my recommendation as the person was a player (actually a pawn – she realized it too late) in the issue. His recommendation was not my cup of tea. As we have very limited choices as to who will replace me, I went on with his choice. After a week, his choice backed-out, saying that he is not ready yet and this is not a good time for him as he is busy for his wedding on December. Now, our manager is getting very stressed over the issue and I used to care, but while the problem is getting more and more complicated and my time of leaving is getting nearer and nearer, my compassion for the company is getting weaker, and by next week, I probably won’t care anymore. I admit I am a very cold person. Problema na nila yun diba?
